RVT Examination Plan Change (10.21.16)
At the most recent Veterinary Medical Board meeting on October 19 we were made aware that the Rabies Section of the RVT Examination Plan was changed sometime last year without informing CaRVTA.  Section 4 in CaRVTA's RVT Study Guide dated 2016 is no longer current.  All individuals who purchased an RVT Study Guide or an Alternate Route Handbook from us since July 1, 2016 will be receiving the updated material shortly.

Candidates can find the updated Examination Plan in the Candidate information Bulletin here:

The RVT Study Guide has been updated to reflect the current Examination Plan and is now available for purchase in the CaRVTA Store here:

Please direct any questions to info@carvta.org.

8.19.16 - The Veterinary Medical Board will begin accepting applications for the Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substances Permit (VACSP) Program in October 2016!  Please check the Board's website for updates. Check back frequently for additional updates as we move closer to October. FAQs will be coming soon!

7.29.16 - The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB), the organization that administers the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) has as new refund policy starting with the July-August online application deadline.

8.12.16 - The Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) has received updated information from the American Association of State Boards (AAVSB) regarding the pass rate on the VTNE. The California pass rate for the March/April administration was 55.94%, not 50% as previously reported.  However, they also reported that the nationwide pass rate was 64.09%. California is still working with the AAVSB to get the individual school pass rate numbers. Once the numbers become available, it will be possible to determine if there are particular schools or pathways that are responsible for California's low pass rate compared to the rest of the country.
